A Coxswain's Best Friend

The one thing all coxswains simply cannot live without?  Their coxbox of course!  And I am absolutely in love with mine.  Look at it, how could I not be!  Getting my coxbox is the first thing I do when I get to the boathouse and it doesn’t leave my sight until my boat is back in the boathouse.  It lets me know my stern pair is keeping a good stable stroke rating and helps to magnify my voice to all eight rowers from stroke to bow.

When my coaches surprised us last fall with five brand new coxboxes, complete with color coded bumpers, it was like coxie Christmas!  And for them to have matched my bumper with my pink electrical tape was extra special!  I was so excited about it that I had to take this picture to send to my sister to brag about.

This is the exact coxbox I have from NK.  I also use the Speed Coach XL3.  This gives device lets me know the splits my girls are pulling.  My coach also has a device in the launch where he is hooked up to view our splits and ratings as well.

I really love the new features this coxbox has.  The connection for the mic is super simple and easier to use.  The timer and clock are also much easier to use and clear with the top three buttons.  And the best feature of all......it tells you exactly how much battery life you have left!  No more guesswork, you always know.

As with all coxswains I am very protective of my coxbox.  With my pink bumper, my coxbox is distinguishably mine.  Everyone knows who the pink box belongs to, no questions asked.  The only question now is who I will leave it to when I graduate
